Ingredients

  • For Cake Sponge
  • Butter unsalted and melted 200gm

  • Castor Sugar 200gm

  • Eggs 4

  • Egg Yolks 2

  • Salt 1 pinch

  • Vanilla Essence 2 Tsp

  • Baking Powder 2 Tsp

  • All purpose Flour 200gm

  • Cocoa Powder 2 Tbsp

  • For Frosting
  • Sugar 12 Tbsp

  • Eggs 3

  • Butter 150gm

  • Vanilla Essence 1 Tsp

  • Cocoa Powder 4 Tbsp

Method and Instructions

  • Preparation of Cake Sponge
  • Take unsalted and melted 200 gm Butter, add 200 gm Castor Sugar, whisk well till sugar is dissolved and mixture become creamy.

  • Add Eggs 4 & 2 Egg Yolks one by one while whisking continuously.

  • Then add 1 pinch Salt, 2 Tsp Vanilla Essence, 2 Tsp Baking Powder, whisk well.

  • Then add All purpose Flour 200 gm gradually while whisking continuously.

  • Once the batter is ready, take out 1/3rd batter into greased 8 inch pan, in the remaining batter add 2 Tbsp of Cocoa Powder and beat well till there is no lump left.

  • Then take out the batter into other greased 8 inch pan.

  • Bake at 180 C for 20 minutes. Pre-heat at 180 C for 10 minutes.

  • Once baked divide the chocolate sponge into 2 equal halves.

  • Preparation of Frosting
  • Beat 12 Tbsp Sugar and 3 eggs till sugar starts to dissolve, then turn on the flame and place the bowl on a boiler.

  • keep whisking and add 150 gm butter, 1 Tsp Vanilla Essence, add 4 Tbsp Cocoa Powder gradually while whisking. 

  • Now refrigerate the frosting for 2 hours. Beat with electric beater till frosting becomes smooth and fluffy.

  • Now on a Turn Table apply little frosting in the centre and place the half chocolate sponge.

  • Apply frosting on it, place Vanilla Sponge and apply frosting on it.

  • Finally place the other half chocolate sponge and cover the cake with remaining chocolate frosting, or you can decorate it as you like.

Note:

  • Pre-heat Oven at maximum temperature for 10-15 minutes.
